Kunstenaar Lukas Kwant staat bekend om zijn contrasterende kleurgebruik en zijn expressionistische schilderstijl. Zijn schilderijen stralen kracht, energie en overwinning uit.
In de jaren tachtig raakte Lukas geïnspireerd door de expressionistische kunststroming Neue Wilden en ziet hij de Duitse kunstenaar Rainer Fetting als een belangrijke inspiratiebron. Voor Lukas is deze kunststroming een bevrijdende manier van schilderen.
Naast het werken met naald en draad en het schilderen in zijn atelier, geeft Lukas ook graag les als docent beeldende kunst.
Wanneer de zon schijnt, is Lukas vaak te vinden op zijn woonboot en in zijn grote (moes)tuin net buiten Amsterdam. De tuin brengt hem terug in contact met zijn Groningse agrarische roots.
